PowerPoints

  1. Powerpoint is a complete presentation graphics package.
  2. You can make these things with powerpoint: Presentations, Slides, Handouts, Speaker's Notes, and Outlines.
  3. To create a presentation you write and design slides.
  4. After launching Powerpoint the following screen appears. Task Pane on the right side of the screen. Select the Blank Presentation under the new portion of the Task Pane.
  5. The Blank Presentation allows you to build you own unique presentation.
  6. The slide layout pane contains a set of 27 different auto layout formats.
  7. The title bar displays the name of the program you are using.
  8. The standard toolbar contains icons for some of the most commonly used commands.
  9. Placeholders contain formatting characteristics for items to be added.
  10. View Buttons allow you to quickly switch between Powerpoint views.
  11. The status bar displays info about the number of slides in the show.
  12. The slide sorter pane displays thumbnail representations of each slide in a presentation.
  13. The menu bar displays a list of menus that you use to give commands to powerpoint.
  14. The formatting toolbar contains buttons for the most commonly used formatting commands.
  15. To add a new slide you must click the new slide button on the formatting toolbar.
  16. Powerpoint will automatically choose the "bulleted list".
  17. Clipart helps the powerpoint standout by adding pictures.
  18. Powerpoint displays the picture on the slide with eight sizing handles surrounding it and a green rotating handle.
  19. You change the size of the selected picture on a slide using the sizing handles as well as rotate from it orginal position.
  20. Most people find it easier to apply templates when you first  start creating the presentation.
  21. When you press "beam" design all your slides wll be converted to match it .
  22. You view your slide show by clicking "slide show".
  23. To view you powerpoint and the way its going to look when you print it you press "print preview" from the file menu.
  24. Powerpoint automatically selects "slides" as its default printing format.
  25. For class you will have to press "handouts" then print.
  26. Handouts have 6 slides per page.
  27. When doing a powerpoint keep it simple; no more than two diff. fonts in the presentation, no more than 7 words per bullet, and no more than seven bullets per slide.
  28. Be Consistent.
  29. Match your design with your purpose.
  30. Present information.. Just dont read it !
